Over the past 40 years, this novel has been translated into more than a dozen languages, and millions of copies have been sold around the world.

It is the story of an incident that took place in a California high school in 1969 when Ron Jones, a teacher, created an experimental movement in his class to help students understand how the German people could have followed Hitler.

The unexpected results  were astounding. The highly disciplined group, modeled on the principles of the Hilter Youth, had its own salute, and chants, and swept beyond the class and throughout the school, evolving into a unit willing to give up freedom for regimentation and the blind obedience to their leader.

In the end a valuable lesson was learned by all.
